Terra Lightfoot w/ Donovan Woods

Terra Lightfoot impressed local concert goers last year when she played the Mudtown Music & Arts Series in her other band the Dinner Belles. Just over a year later she returns with a hit solo album under her belt and a successful cross Canadian tour. We are pleased to welcome her back with her supporting band and intrepid singer-songwriter Donovan Woods.

Whether you’re talking about her as a songwriter, guitarist or vocalist, one thing is indisputable: Hamilton’s Terra Lightfoot is a ferocious talent. Her songs tap into the raw emotion of hearts supercharged by love, lust, loneli- ness and temptation. Her playing melds expert finger-picking and distorted, hook-heavy melodies. And her elemental voice commands attention and awe, whether on slow-burning soul ballads or hard-charging rock numbers. “Currently, it seems like there are only two types of Canadian singer-songwriters: those who strive to sound like Jeff Buckley and those who strive to sound like Leslie Feist. Terra Lightfoot has crafted a third, more interesting option: none of the above.” – Exclaim! Magazine

With a voice as notable as his lyrics, Donovan Woods is a critically acclaimed and in-demand Canadian recording artist, performer and songwriter. His third record, “Don’t Get Too Grand”, featuring the hit single “Put On Cologne” garnered radio airplay around the world, and was nominated for “Roots & Traditional Album of the Year” at the 2014 Juno Awards. Splitting his time between Nashville and Toronto, Woods’ versatile songs have been recorded by everyone from Canadian indie artists to established stars like Tim McGraw or Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea), and been featured in television shows, major motion pictures and commercials. Piercingly honest and quietly anthemic, Woods sings with a striking sense of the world that produced him – the unsung towns of Canada’s industrial heartland. The result is music that’s transporting, but never loses the dry, self-deprecating humour that has endeared Woods to audiences from the start.
